Engineered Conductive Materials, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Engineered Materials Systems, has unveiled a new conductive stringer attach adhesive for photovoltaic (PV) applications. The DB-1541-S3 adhesive is ideal for use in thinned, organic and thin-film silicon solar modules.
The DB-1541-S3 expands the company’s complete line of conductive adhesives, conductive stringer attach adhesives for back contact thin-film and crystalline silicon applications and conductive grid inks for PV applications. The DB-1541-S3 has been formulated to provide exceptional stability and conductivity on molybdenum substrates.
When compared to the standard DB-1541-S series of adhesives, the DB-1541-S3 conductive stringer attach adhesive has over 12% lower silver loading capacity. This leads to huge cost reduction and maintains maximum rheology for dispensing. In addition, it has a lower volume resistivity.
The DB-1541-S3 has superior stability, conductivity and damp heat resistance on silver-plated, tin-silver and tin ribbons. Rubber-like flexibility characteristic of the stringer attach adhesive makes it suitable for flexible PV applications. It also has high peel strength, which helps to resist stresses stimulated in reel-to-reel production processes.
