ThyssenKrupp Presta AG, Eschen/Liechtenstein is extending its camshaft production to China. Today the first ground was broken for a new 50,000 m² plant in the Dalian Development Area. ThyssenKrupp Presta (Dalian) Co., Ltd. will initially produce 1.3 million camshafts a year and create new jobs for around 100 people, some of whom previously received training at the company`s main plant in Liechtenstein. The aim is to increase output to five million camshafts per year.
ThyssenKrupp Presta stands for leading-edge valve control technologies. As the inventor and world`s leading producer of assembled camshafts, the company has produced more than 50 million units since 1993 at plants in the USA, Liechtenstein and Germany. These have been used in gasoline and diesel car engines. The new plant in Dalian will also produce the full camshaft range.
More and more car manufacturers throughout the world are using assembled camshafts in their engines. The reasons are simple: assembled camshafts reduce weight and costs and simplify processing. Materials can be selected to match loads, resulting in an ideal material mix. All the steps in the camshaft production process will be carried out at the new plant in Dalian.
ThyssenKrupp Presta, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG, Bochum, employs around 4,500 people worldwide producing steering systems, camshafts, valve trains and precision cold forgings. The company has a total of 16 production sites in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, France, Liechtenstein and Germany.
