Meller Optics, a provider of high quality optics to laser, medical, defense and industrial markets, announced the offering of high purity Microlux Alumina Abrasive Powders.
This entire series of calcined alumina polishing abrasives produce excellent surface finishes on optics. In addition, these abrasive powders are used for lapping and fine grinding.
Meller’s Microlux products provide low cost benefit compared to diamond abrasives. The powders feature seven particle sizes ranging from 0.05 µm to 3.0 µm. They can produce finishes to 10-5 scratch-dig on zinc sulfide, zinc selenide, stainless steel, silicon, germanium, ferrites and calcium fluoride.
Meller Microlux Alumina Abrasives are available in two grades: Microlux-RZ and Microlux-R. Microlux-RZ feature controlled particle sizes and is ideal for uniform polishing and fine grinding. It is 99.99% pure abrasive. Microlux-R is 99.98% pure and is used for vigorous lapping and grinding process. This grade features large agglomerated particles, which break down into smaller particles under pressure for final polishing. Both the grades can be mixed with deionized water for application.
Meller Optics has more than 90 years of experience in the grinding and polishing of rigid and tough materials like ruby and sapphire. The company has developed low-cost, high-speed finishing processes for ceramic materials, fluorides, silicon, germanium, zinc selenide, fused silica and laser glasses. In addition, Meller Optics supplies Gugolz optical polishing pitch.
