Southern California-based Spragues’ Ready Mix Concrete has recently completed several decorative concrete projects for highway improvements across the Los Angeles metropolitan area for Caltrans, a state agency handling proposals, development and maintenance of rail roads, bridges and highways.
Caltrans, which manages over 50,000 mi of freeway and highway lanes throughout California, chose Spragues’ based on its expertise and potential to manufacture unique concrete mixes for these special applications.
Covina, California-based Baltazar Construction also worked with Spragues’ in the decorative concrete projects. Spragues’ developed a specially designed decorative concrete mixture, which includes Adobe colored concrete, for the projects. The new decorative concrete products were placed close to the highway. They were designed to offer an easy-to-maintain decorative pavement to Caltrans. The projects gave a new look to the Californian roadways.
During the projects, the stamped concrete products were placed and finished by Baltazar Construction. Due to the heavy volumes of traffic, these projects experienced transportation difficulties. To reduce the transportation problems during high volumes of traffic, the contractor transported the concrete products during the night time. However, these projects delivered superior quality decorative stamped concrete products, which will benefit the community in the Southern California region in the future. The completed concrete products can be found in several Southern California cities, including San Bernardino, Fullerton, Los Angeles and Pasadena.
