One of the world’s leading sustainable plastics producers, Cereplast has signed a resin distribution agreement with Mastercolor AB, a marketer and distributor of compostable resins and masterbatches to the plastic processing industry in Scandinavia. This is the seventh European distribution agreement signed by Cereplast in 2011.
Mastercolor AB will distribute Cereplast’s Compostables resins to the Scandinavian market, particularly in Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Compostable resins are made from Ingeo PLA and they are patented formulations.
Cereplast’s Chairman and CEO, Frederic Scheer stated that the agreement signifies the company’s continued commitment to extend Cereplast's distribution across Europe. The demand for bioplastic materials has increased in the European continent because of new governmental policies, which restricts the use of plastic bags and supports flexible and rigid packaging. Hence, European manufacturers are looking for plastic alternatives to meet the terms of new regulations.
Carl-Johan Levert, Mastercolor AB’s CEO, commented that the partnership with Cereplast will expand their product offerings and helps to offer premium quality bioplastic resins to their clients as an alternative to traditional plastic. As demand for bioplastics is rapidly increasing in the Scandinavian region, Mastercolor AB is working to serve the market more effectively.
Mastercolor AB will supply several grades of Cereplast’s bioplastic resins to product and package manufacturers and distributors in the region to manufacture flexible packaging products, bags for a wide range of food service ware applications.
