Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has selected Olympia Steel Buildings for the $1 billion clean energy project in Niagara Falls, Canada.
Olympia Steel Buildings Canada has received the third order for a pre-engineered steel building from STRABAG.
In 2004, OPG had received approval from the Ontario Government to progress with a third water tunnel construction under the city of Niagara Falls. STRABAG has been chosen to construct the hydro-energy tunnel, which is worth $600 million. The project required construction of new buildings on the project location. Hence, STRABAG has acquired three Olympia pre-engineered metal buildings.
The new building is constructed using the insulated sandwich panel technology that enables easy installation and offers advantageous insulation metrics. STRABAG was attracted by the customized design of the metal building construction and its competitive price.
Olympia Steel Buildings are delivered with excellent weather-resistant PBR roof. GSA approved Olympia pre-engineered steel buildings are precision engineered and erected with experienced professionals to provide customers with a “tight” building that minimizes air infiltration into the building and saves on HVAC costs.
The Niagara Tunnel Project is OPG’s significant clean-energy project. The new hydro-energy will be built to a maximum depth of 100 m and it is anticipated to be one of North America’s largest tunnels. The project is expected to be finished in 2012 or 2013.
