Solutia, a pioneer in security, safety, decorative and solar control window films for architectural and aftermarket automotive applications, has introduced its second generation spectrally selective solar control films under V-KOOL, its premium brand of window films, for the worldwide automotive markets.
The spectrally selective solar control films are made of 10 layers of sputtered precious rare metals and additionally reinforced with gold. The multi-layer, heat-reflecting films will reject a maximum of 70% of solar energy and more than 97% of infrared light. It also sustains the transparency of the auto-glass, while eliminating the mirror reflective effect.
According to independent studies, the energy-saving films can enhance fuel efficacy of cars by up to 3%, which is equivalent to reducing up to 134 kg of CO2 emissions. Solutia has introduced these films in selected countries, including UAE, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia and China, and will soon launch in other countries.
Wilson Lim, who serves as the Group General Manager of Premium Brands for Performance Films division of Solutia, said that the company reached another milestone by launching the 10-layer sputtered stack under its V-KOOL brand of window films. Over a decade ago, V-KOOL window film transformed the industry with its 7-layer sputtered stack of precious metals on PET films, he said.
Yin-Yin Yeo, Global Business Director of Premium Brands at Solutia's Performance Films division, stated that the company is happy to present car dealerships selling V-KOOL window films with exciting opportunities to provide drivers another eco-friendly product with superior performance.
