MesoCoat, subsidiary of Abakan, has moved into a new metal cladding and spray coating facility in Eastlake, Ohio.
The facility integrates thermal spray coating cells for PComP and two metal cladding lines for CermaClad. In addition, the Eastlake plant houses a metallurgical and analytical laboratory. The new 10,000 sq ft. facility will be the company’s fourth facility in the region. MesoCoat already operates two facilities in Ohio and the third plant is under construction.
The Eastlake facility is mainly established for cladding plates and parts for the shipbuilding and oil and gas industries and also to offer thermal spray coating materials to mining and oil and gas sectors in the U.S.
MesoCoat will install a 600 kW cladding arc lamp system at the facility. The system is purchased from an international heavy equipment manufacturer and it will be used to develop cladding products that are resistant to wear and corrosion. MesoCoat has been utilizing 200 kW fusion arc lamp systems to create metallurgically clad samples, which produces excellent results. The new 600 kW system produces better results and accelerates MesoCoat’s production initiatives. MesoCoat also expects to purchase two additional 500kW arc lamp cladding systems in 2012.
