Bloom Microgreens to Introduce Plant-based Packaging Material

At Sunset Magazines’ SAVOR the Central Coast exhibition, Bloom Microgreens will launch its new plant-based packaging product. Bloom Microgreens, based in San Luis Obispo, California, is a provider of locally grown herbs, shoots and micro lettuces to Central Coast’s premier chefs.

The company’s new packaging is compostable and biodegradable as it plant-based rather than petroleum-based. This eco-friendly packaging has been enhanced by a food and beverage marketing company in San Luis Obispo, Recipe.

Bloom Microgreens’ owner, Kara Wood stated that the company focuses more on sustainable initiatives. Hence, it looks for packaging that provides benefit both for the product and the environment.

Recently, Recipe Marketing held a packaging makeover contest, which included a modernized label design and suggestion for a new plant-based packaging container. Bloom Microgreens’ pack redesign had three important aspects: design, form and function. The form and function has been made sustainable with the addition of new labels and containers. As far as design is concerned, it was necessary to create Bloom Microgreens’ retail label look same like the wholesale label to make consumers feel that they are getting the same clean and quality products, said Frank Scotti, creative director at Recipe.

Bloom Microgreens will display the new casing at a booth in Backyard Farm, a section at SAVOR the Central Coast, this month. Wood will also be giving demonstrations and talks on how to grow one’s own microgreens, as well as providing product to many chefs during the event
