BalverZinn/Cobar Group has planned to unveil a new SELective (SEL) soldering package in three important exhibitions: Productronica in Germany, SMTA Penang Tabletop Exhibition in Malaysia and SMTA International in Texas, U.S.
The package includes soldering materials that is particularly designed to create highly reliable solder joints by using a selective soldering process. Selective soldering surpasses wave soldering applications and it has certain complex areas, which can be managed using the right knowledge, process control and materials.
The group has developed chemistry with required properties to produce reliable solder joints. Balver Zinn/Cobar provides four different fluxes with exact properties required for high temperature applications. They have good spreading properties and even under deactivated condition, the fluxes are chemically inert. This means that these fluxes will prevent corrosion, dendrite formation or reliability issues. The low VOC fluxes are eco-friendly as they reduce alcohol emission. All the fluxes are designed to work with metals produced by Balver Zinn/Cobar.
The new soldering package includes variety of alloys that are delivered in hemispherical pallets, small 500gm solder bars or in a wire on a reel. In addition, the SEL package contains special soldering materials such as a nozzle cleaning chemistry. A selective soldering process is susceptible for copper leaching at high temperature. SN100C is an alloy that provides low metal erosion and low copper leaching, thus making it ideal for selective soldering applications. Balver Zinn/Cobar’s SEL package also comprises free solder sample analysis.
