Milliken Chemical, a division of Milliken & Company, will showcase the advanced, high-performance clarifying agents, nucleating agents and polymeric dyes used for several packaging applications at PACK EXPO 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Various colorants and additives to be featured include ClearTint, Hyperform HPN, NX 8500E and Millad NX 8000. All these products deliver enhanced energy conservation, processing efficiency and aesthetics to molders and product manufacturers.
The advanced additive and colorant technologies from the company can significantly increase the clarity of polypropylene (PP), save energy, reduce cycle time and minimize warpage. Milliken’s technologies have a wide range of applications, including dry foods packaging, HDPE bottles, personal care bottles, water bottles, caps and closures, DVD or media cases, housewares, food storage containers, clamshells and drink cups.
ClearTint colorants are non-extractable, which makes them ideal for food contact applications. Hyperform HPN is a nucleating agent in PP that helps to solve complex shrinkage and warpage issues associated with rapid molding of thin-walled packaging. In addition, Hyperform HPN agents in polyethylene (PE) offer opportunities for warpage control in center-gated injection molded parts, pigment levelling and cycle time reduction in injection molded parts. They also contribute to enhancement in barrier properties in blown film, extrusion blow molding (EBM) and high density polyethylene (HDPE).
Millad NX 8000 line of clarifying agents deliver optical quality equivalent to glass clear polymers. They also allow processors to considerably reduce overall system costs via shorter cycles and lower processing temperatures. Millad NX 8500E clarifier is one of the company’s latest additions to its portfolio of advanced additive technologies and the material is mainly developed for extrusion-blow molding application.
