Formica, a division of Fletcher Building and a specialist in high pressure laminate products, has planned to build a new laminate manufacturing plant in Jiujiang, China. It will be Formica's second Chinese plant and 11th manufacturing facility globally.
Once completed, the plant will be one of Formica group’s largest facilities and it will double the company's production capacity in China. The investment also enables additional market growth. The Jiujiang facility will produce high pressure laminates to meet the demand in China and other Asian markets. The construction of the facility, over 500,000 sq ft, is scheduled to be completed in 2013 and will hire about 400 people.
The demand for laminates is increasing due to the development of commercial constructions along with the rise in the government-subsidized housing projects in China. President and CEO of Formica, Mark Adamson stated that the company has over 25 years of experience in the market. Though the Chinese market is two times larger than the U.S. market, it continues to grow by 15% every year. The brand’s legacy, history and commitment to product innovation has led the company to the current global expansion. Formica Group is certain about the growth of its laminate business in the world's leading market.
