Arkema’s Protective Coating Reduces Energy Expenditures for Interfora

Interfora, an established France-based training institute in the chemical industry, has applied a Kynar Aquatec resin-based white coating on its roofs spanning 900 sq m, as part of the construction of new buildings and renewal of existing ones.

The application of the long-lasting protective coating that can reflect sunrays has allowed the roof surface to shun air-conditioning expenditures of the buildings, which in turn decrease their energy usage.

Up until lately, PVDF fluorinated resins that have superior weathering and ultraviolet resistance can only be coated over metal supports, and needed pre-lacquering by stoving. But, Arkema’s innovative PVDF fluorinated resin devoid of solvent, Kynar Aquatec can be coated as an aqueous formulation utilizing conventional painting tools such as brush and spray gun on any type of surface, including metal, tar, cement and wood. Hence the novel coating dries out within a few hours of time at room temperature.

Kynar Aquatec’s quality is comparable with that of lacquered PVDF for metal coatings, offering long-lasting film and color for nearly 25 years, which in turn will reduce renovation and maintenance expenditures significantly. Its flawlessly smooth surface protects the adhering of microorganisms, pollution and grime and it can be used directly with acrylic paint.

Kynar Aquatec’s capability to reflect sunlight eliminates the deployment of artificial air conditioning, resulting in nearly 15% reduction in the overall energy expenditures of a building.
