B2B Industrial Packaging has introduced a nail, with diamond shaped head, made of hardened steel for use in steel construction.
These nails are highly efficient and more reliable for a variety of constructional materials especially steel.
B2B Industrial’s Herb Burrows has developed an innovative pin that allows fastening of plywood, metal, OSB board and gypsum board to the light weight steel in lesser time. The normally used nails do not pass through or have a hold in steel.
Mike Theriault, B2B Industrial’s president and CEO, says that this diamond headed nail will replace the screws used in steel construction. Theriault added that this will speed up the installation process and maintain the required quality without compromising it.
A diamond-shaped emblem is engraved on the flat head of the standard nails. The steel wire, with grade 1060 (UNS 1600) and ASTM A 510 standards, are used to manufacture these nails. Suitable core hardness is achieved by treating these nails using heat.
The deposition of zinc coating to these nails is performed either mechanically or electrically with respect to the SC 1, ASTM B633 Type II or ASTM B695 Type 1 Class 12 standards. These hardened diamond headed nails have a smooth or knurled shank, ballistic point of 2.69 mm or 3.66 mm in diameter, a head of 6.2 mm in diameter and a minimum length of 3/4 in. These nails exist in 0°coil sheet made of plastic, and 15° collated and 21° strips.
