Axion International, a pioneer in recycled structural composite technology utilized in the production of Struxure building materials and EcoTrax railroad ties, has declared that it was highlighted in a green technology segment of ‘Squawk Box,’ a talk and pre-market morning news program aired on CNBC.
The segment features an interview with Tim McKay, who serves as Senior Vice President of Dallas Area Rapid Transit, about the advantages of the EcoTrax, Axion International’s railroad ties made of 100% recycled plastics. Dallas Area Rapid Transit is using the railroad ties for building a two-mile bridge linking Fort Worth and Dallas.
Composite Railroad Ties
Mr. McKay stated that the cost of the composite ties is two times more than that of a wood tie but its operating life is three to seven times longer than that of the wood tie. The use of ties is expected to save roughly 1,000 matured hard timber trees, McKay added.
Axion International’s recycled structural composite materials are inert and free from toxic materials. They are lightweight when compared to conventional materials, thus reducing energy and transportation expenditures. Moreover, they are 100% recyclable after the completion of their operating life.
