The commercial coatings division of PPG industries has launched a small intermix tinting device for Aquacron water-based resins. This system facilitates regional PPG distributors to blend over 3,000 previously formulated Aquacron coating colors at their site itself.
Steve Podlas, Brand Manager for commercial coatings of PPG industries, stated that the PPG distributors can now offer less volatile organic compound (VOC), water-based coating solutions for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications cost-effectively and with a quicker turnaround time. Podlas said that the intermix tinting system, with the added capability of mixing preformulated color, serves as a convenient alternative to place an order of custom colors from the PPG’s stores. Podlas added that this new system ensures that the PPG distributors fulfill demands of the customers the very same day.
Podlas said that the system is supported with a color-matching identifier tool. Podlas went on to say that the “Aquacron Color Chip Book” ensures about 2,800 color chip selections and is provided with a fan deck including chips for 180 famous industrial colors. Podlas added that the distributors can perform quick check of the target substrate color and can deliver the nearest color match from the system’s color space with the use of the color identifying tool.
The water-based Aquacron coatings intermix system is developed for use with one easy-to-apply and two fast-drying Aquacron topcoat technologies such as MV 380 WB and MV 880 WR Acrylic Enamel. The system is designed with three mixing bases such as mid-tone, white and deep, and twelve tints. In total, the system equips six bases supplied in short-filled containers to accommodate the added tints.
