BioSolar will showcase the BioBacksheet integrated photovoltaic panels at the GovGreen Conference, which will be held in Washington DC. Four PV producers manufactured these panels, which are being considered for commercial utilization of the BioBacksheet.
Currently, BioBacksheet is the only PV backsheet, which has received USDA certification, purchased preferably by federal government agencies.
The Chief Technology Officer of BioSolar, Dr. Stanley Levy, stated that the company’s high priority is to help its potential PV panel producing clients for incorporating BioBacksheet to the panels for UL certification. One more significant priority is to assist those solar panel producers, who look for further data that BioBacksheet will not be affected after extended exposure to different dangerous environmental effects like ionizing UV radiation.
A new test for UV exposure has shown that the BioBacksheet’s flexibility in the presence of harmful UV radiation is better than the usual multi-layer laminated backsheets that are utilized presently in the PV industry.
The company exposed the BioBacksheet for testing and did not find any changes. Usually, multi-layer backsheet laminates experience adhesive degradation that is utilized to hold the layers, and increase the inter-layer delamination risk leading to the loss of the hermetic seal in solar panel against moisture.
BioSolar’s CEO, Dr. David Lee, stated that manufacturers of PV panels are gaining knowledge that BioBacksheet is more robust than the usual multi-layer backsheets and is an eco-friendly product.BioBacksheets offer a better proposal to the PV panel manufacturers.
