The North American International Auto Show held in Detroit offers provides a large number of examples of clients selecting Goodyear tires due to their attractive appearance and excellent handling features. A number of auto manufacturers are choosing Goodyear for their new innovations and two classy cars from Chevrolet are showcasing concept rubber from Goodyear in order to attract the younger generation.
Among the vehicles showcased by Chevrolet, in the Detroit show, the Tru 140S and the Code 130R models signify modern styling and features as desired by the younger generation.
The Tire Design Studio of Goodyear in Akron designed the unique tires for these new Chevrolet models in conjunction with GM engineers offering exclusively carved tires to be used in the auto show. The vice president, original equipment tires, Johann Finkelmeier stated that it is the company’s goal to work with the automotive company and offer them tire design and manufacturing insight that optimally suits their needs.
Since Goodyear has been selected to provide tires for these sophisticated vehicles, it shows the potential of Goodyear to cater to any kind of vehicle need. The tire tread was designed in such a way as to have the same rubber distribution as that in ultra-high performance tire, Goodyear Eagle, with an elegance that adds value to the vehicle. The design of the tread is asymmetric though in-line with the center line of the vehicle.
The Tru 140S is an economic, four-seat, sporty, front-wheel-drive coupe. The Tru-140S tire design evolved from the Chevron design into the final design. The manufacture of the concept tires was done in the Luxembourg facility of Goodyear, with the exclusive tread designs carved by a previously programmed laser. Texture and serrations were added in the tread surface and some of the tread grooves.
