Axion International, a developer of structural building products from 100% recycled consumer and industrial plastics, has entered dual agreements with Argentina-based Inversora Intervías for its ECOTRAX composite railroad ties.
An agreement has been signed representing Inversora Intervías as a distribution partner for Axion in Argentina. The agreement expands the distribution of 100% recycled railroad ties in Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. Inversora Intervías’ relationship with Cometrans Group, a leader in the railroad industry, will help to set up sales and marketing capabilities for ECOTRAX products across the Mercosur region.
Another agreement has been signed to evaluate the establishment of an entity that will be responsible for manufacturing, selling and marketing ECOTRAX composite railroad ties in Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. This deal helps Axion to continue expansion in South America. Steve Silverman, President and CEO of Axion, stated that the agreements signify a major step forward in global expansion.
The Mercosur region is growing as a major agricultural producer. Most of the Argentina’s railroad infrastructure is constructed using wooden ties, which are becoming highly scarce. To meet future challenges, Argentina needs to renovate its railroad infrastructure using advanced products. ECOTRAX product from Axion is an ideal solution for installation in regions where repairs and replacement are major challenges.
