A global provider of a wide range of advanced injection molding and extrusion processing equipment, Milacron Plastics Technologies, has announced that it will exhibit its M-PAK single screw extruder at the NPE 2012 event.
The system is suitable for manufacturing small products using non-composite materials. Key features of the single screw extruder system are integrated flexibility, rapid delivery and low cost.
The M-PAK extruder is a FDA compliant equipment that helps medical extruders to meet the challenges of growing material options, changing regulations and tightening tolerances. The system has been designed to produce medical tubing with smaller diameters that range up to 1.5”. The equipment has been built using stainless steel, which makes both cleanroom application and cleanup easier. In addition, the direct drive motors equipped in the M-PAK system do not use shifts and belts thus eliminating dust.
The equipment will manufacture medical tubing along with resin from PolyOne; laser and ultra-sonic gauging devices from Zumbach Electronic; tooling from B&H Tool; and downstream equipment provided by Conair. Milacron’s M-PAK extrusion system functions with MOSAIC precision control software. The control system helps to examine and adjust processes to ensure quality production and also aids extruders to connect to other production operations such as downstream equipment and melt pumps. The General Manager of Milacron’s Global Extrusion division, Mike Puhalla, remarked that in medical extrusion, consistency and accuracy is more important to ensure patient safety and its extruders like M-PAK help to meet these requirements.
