Styrolution, a supplier of styrene monomers, polystyrene and copolymers and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, has planned to launch Luran S BX11012, a new acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) polymer material, at NPE 2012 international plastics exhibition, which will be held from April 2 to 5 in Orlando.
The material has been developed to meet the requirements of the customers in the construction sector. It is ideal for siding, fencing and decking applications.
Luran S BX11012 is particularly developed for low-gloss extrusion applications, which need higher melt flows compared to classic extrusion grade ASA resin materials. The material has excellent weathering characteristics and high impact strength. The Luran S BX11012 resin can be applied as a top layer over other plastic building materials. It provides enhanced properties, particularly in locations where materials like vinyl cannot meet all the performance factors on their own. In addition, the ASA resin offers long-lasting color stability in various colors, including dark and mid-range colors. All these benefits deliver higher flexibility to architects and building contractors in using the plastic solutions for a wide range of construction projects. The company produces the BX11012 extrusion grade material at its large-scale manufacturing plant in Altamira, Mexicos.
Ricardo Cuetos, Vice President Americas at Styrolution’s ABS and Styrenic Specialties division, remarked that they were able to successfully produce an acrylonitrile styrene acrylate resin material for the construction industry through collaboration with their customers.
