DuPont Announces Kevlar Innovation Award Winners

DuPont Protection Technologies (DPT) has honored three companies, namely TYR Tactical, QinetiQ North America and UNEQUAL Technologies, with the DuPont Kevlar Innovation Award.

DuPont Kevlar Innovation Awards

The award recognizes the implementation of ideas, technologies, methods, services and products, applications in an innovative way through DuPont’s Kevlar brand fiber. Innovation, collaboration and protection were the three categories, under which the U.S. awards were given.

The criteria of the DuPont Innovation award concentrated on the DuPont Kevlar’s usage together with new processing technologies and materials, innovative use of DuPont Kevlar in latest applications and product’s individuality. The protection award was given depending on how the innovative product improved the protection of methods, people or the environment through DuPont Kevlar fiber.[. The award winning entry was selected based on how the company collaborated with Du Pont and other organizations in order to formulate a product utilizing Kevlar, which offers a number of advantages and commercial significance to others.

The award winner in the innovation category was Q-Net, which is a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) protection product from QinetiQ North America. A new solution has been provided by the RPG system to counter performance challenges and light-weighting of vehicle, because decrease in weight reduces fuel usage and the vehicle operating systems’ overall wear and tear.

The protection award was given to TYR Tactical for its PVTM Nylon, which is a hybrid laminate. This laminate is lighter-weight and stronger than standard nylon. A significant solution has been offered to the market for lighter-weight, more resistant and longer-wearing armor.

UNEQUAL Technologies receives the collaboration award for EXO pads that provide body protection to athletes and soldiers. UNEQUAL and DuPont worked together for integrating DuPont Kevlar brand fiber and its layered pad systems, and yielded an all-fabric solution.

The Wounded Warrior Project received the award of QinetiQ and conducts services and programs to service members, who were severely injured. The award of TYR Tactical was contributed to Fisher House Foundation, which offers lodging at low or free of cost to military families and veterans, who were being treated at military medical centers. The award received by UNEQUAL was given to the National Law Enforcement Museum.
