ILLIG’s Thermoplastic Sheet Processing Machines Featured at Technology Day 2012

On March 1, 2012, ILLIG, a global supplier of high-performance production lines and molds for thermoforming plastic materials, had hosted the ‘ILLIG Sheet Processing Machines – State-of-the-Art 2012’ Technology Day.

UA sheet processing machine

The company displayed five sheet processing machines in the UA series: UA 101l, UA 200g, UA 155g and UA 100g. These machines are used to manufacture plant pots, trays, machine guardings, and transport pallets from 3 mm thermoplastic sheet made of either ABS, PE, and PS materials. The universal forming machines from ILLIG are ideal for producing a wider range of products in various sectors, including vehicle manufacturing, automotive engineering, electrical engineering and electronics and industrial applications.

The current ILLIG’s UA sheet processing machines are upgraded to offer high productivity by equipping servo motor drives and process-controlled machine sequencing. In addition, the machines are fixed with new parts and control modules, such as HTSs heater elements with black enameling. The heater elements help to reduce the total energy consumption by the sheet processing machines. Other features of the latest UA series of sheet processing machines include compensation control and auto operating page.

The servo drives will accelerate the motion of all components of a sheet processing machine individually. They help to save approximately 40% of the time needed for motion sequencing, which results in shorter cycles. In addition, servo drives consume less amount of energy than hydraulic or pneumatic drives. The servo driven thermoforming machine’s accurate and rapid motions also produce a positive effect on the quality of the products. A constant temperature needs to be maintained within the material to achieve a consistent uniform part, particularly when thicker thermoplastic sheet is produced.

The latest range of the UA thermoforming machines combines high accuracy with high efficiency, product quality and productivity. These machines produce high-quality thermoformed parts in a rapid and energy-efficient manner.
