PPG Industries has announced that the company has recently relocated its automotive refinish operations to a facility in Shanghai, China.
The executives of PPG along with almost 200 guests from automotive aftermarket firms, automotive dealers and manufacturers, PPG authorized distributors and partner schools, and PPG suppliers participated in the relocation ceremony.
During the ceremony, Mike Horton, President of PPG, Asia Pacific, and Charles E. Bunch, CEO and Chairman of PPG addressed about the commitment of PPG to the Chinese market and expressed their confidence in the increasing potential of the market.
PPG’s VP for refinish coatings and light industrial coatings, Asia, Pauline Yuen commented that the automotive refinish business of the company has developed a broad service network and strong awareness of its brand and also maintains more reliable customers. The company intended to relocate its facility in order to meet the increasing requirements of the local customers. Superior service and cutting-edge products will be continuously offered to Chinese customers, through this new location with enhanced facilities.
Training centers have been constructed by the company for automotive spray finishing in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Several technicians from automotive manufacturers, car dealers and auto service center are trained in those centers. The new center in Shanghai has enclosed 3,000 sq. m and has been equipped with modern equipment in order to provide improved training for automotive refinish technicians.
An extensive array of refinish brands like ACS, DELTRON, EMAXX and NEXA AUTOCOLOR coatings are provided by PPG, along with a complete line of coatings products and systems for use in the alternative energy, light industrial and rail transportation segments. PPG was the first company unveiled waterborne automotive coating products in China, together with ENVIROBASE and AQUABASE Plus high-performance coatings in order to advance an eco-friendly automotive aftermarket in China.
