Plainfield Precision, a producer of highly specialized insert molded and assembled products, has received an order from Cheer Pack North America, a provider of innovative flexible pouch packaging, to manufacture caps and straws.
Cheer Pack’s pouch is produced using three components: film, cap and straw. Each component needs unique specialized equipment to produce a secure and quality pack that meets or surpasses the customer’s needs. The large patented, 32-mm diameter cap has been mainly designed to prevent choking hazards. The straw used in Cheer Pack’s pouch is injection molded and it features critical dimensions that are necessary to ensure sealing integrity and precise cap torque.
Jonathan Soucy, President of Plainfield Precision Division, commented that the flexible pouch packaging market is growing quickly because of economic and environmental advantages offered by the products. The partnership integrates manufacturing capabilities of Plainfield Precision with the innovative product design of Cheer Pack. Soucy added that the alliance with Cheer Pack extends beyond supplier-buyer affiliation and they are working jointly to produce new designs in the future.
Plainfield Precision has made investment in six units of Toshiba’s high-speed, electric presses to address the demand for 45 million components per month. In addition, the company is also renovating its 7,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing floor space into FDA clean room standards. Plainfield Precision also intends to carry out manufacturing at Cheer Pack's new 180,000 sq. ft. facility, thus enhancing efficiency and making logistics simpler.
