IFCO SYSTEMS, a specialist in reusable plastic containers (RPCs) used for fresh products, has declared that containers will be supplied to Foodshare, a charity based in Connecticut. These RPCs will be utilized by Foodshare in order to transport grocery products from its Bloomberg facility to approximately 300 partner sites in Hartford.
IFCO SYSTEMS’ General Manager and President, Fred Heptinstall stated that the company’s supply of RPCs will enhance the yield of Foodshare’s delivery system and minimize the damage to the product, while attempting to decrease impact on the environment. The company is delighted to collaborate with Foodshare and is proud of its commitment to help the food banks across the globe, he added.
Foodshare is a charity that brings together organizations and individuals to effectively make solutions to fight against hunger in all 42 towns of Tolland and Hartford counties.
According to Foodshare’s Regional Market Project Manager, Stephen Slipchinsky, the efficiency of the delivery process will be enhanced by the RPCs, which ensure the supply of groceries to the needy individuals and families located in the Hartford community. Replacement of corrugate boxes with RPCs will make Foodshare to move towards a more eco-friendly system, Slipchinsky stated.
IFCO supplies reusable containers to the fresh food division, wherein more than 170 million RPCs were globally circulated. All RPC logistics are managed by IFCO. The company has folded and sent these RPCs to one of its service plants.
