Vishay Intertechnology, a manufacturer of passive electronic components and discrete semiconductors, has declared that new range of three-phase cylindrical capacitors have been unveiled for use in power electronics. These cylindrical capacitors feature high current potential and nine standard voltage ratings from 400 V AC to 1650 V AC. They have an extensive range of capacitance and offer packaging options.
The company’s EMKP capacitors are offered in five diameters from 64 to 136 mm and in four heights from 160 to 265 mm. The devices provide up to 21.3 kA of impulse currents, up to 3 x 56 and 3 x 104 A of high current ratings, and less than 100 nH of low self-inductance. They also have capacitance values ranging from 4.0 to 600 µF, low series resistance of 0.6 mÙ and have 5% of capacitance tolerance.
The EMKP three-phase capacitors are optimized for harmonic and AC filtering, power factor correction applications in three-phase traction, industrial converters and drives, solar inverters and wind turbines. These capacitors are metalized polypropylene film devices featuring self-healing technology.
The EMKP three-phase devices provide 120 FIT of high reliability rating. The lifetime expectancy of these devices is as long as 100,000 h at a rated voltage of + 70°C. The capacitors can be specifically applied for an operating temperature from -40°C to +85°C and meet the standards of IEC 60831, IEC 61071-1 and IEC 61881. Terminal-to-terminal test voltage of the capacitor is 1.5 times the rated AC voltage for 10 s.
