Teijin Chemicals, the resin and plastic processing business arm of Teijin Group, has reported that new equipment will be installed at the company’s Matsuyama facility, located in Japan.
The new equipment will have the capability to process resin into film featuring advanced optical properties, and will allow Teijin to develop products in order to fulfill different and complex demands of customers. This new equipment will become operational in August, 2012. Production capacity of this equipment is 1 million m2 per annum.
The company will be capable of manufacturing optical films with the help of various polymers like acrylic and polycarbonate. These films will have excellent smooth surfaces for use in a variety of applications. They can be used as high-quality conductive films in touch panels, providing exceptional gas barrier properties, heat resistance and a high degree of transparency. They can also be applied to external and internal vehicle panels to lower the weight of the vehicle and environmental problems and replace the necessity for plating or paint. In addition, the company is looking forward to contribute to the advancement of higher and larger definition displays for use in flat-panel screens, smartphones and other devices.
The company has been concentrating on developing high value-added, high-performance, versatile resin products, and downstream business development.
Teijin provides advanced solutions for electronics and information, sustainable transportation, energy and environment, healthcare, protection and safety.
