The refrigerants industry is undergoing dramatic changes due to the Montreal Protocol, which regulates ozone-depleting substances, such as chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and hyrdrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerants. One of the biggest challenges facing governments, the refrigeration industry, and refrigeration systems owners worldwide is the safe, responsible, and legal disposal of used refrigerants.
To address mounting demand from the Mexican environmental regulation authorities and the refrigeration industry, the DuPont Mexico Fluoroproducts team recently launched a comprehensive Refrigerants Recovery and Recycling offering.
The Recovery and Recycling Program list of fee-based services includes refrigerant recollection, chromatographic analysis, reception by DuPont, recycling, and cylinder rentals. Services are available for the following refrigerant types: R11, R12, R134-a, R141-b R22 and R123. The services are coordinated and performed by the Fluorochemicals Technical Service and the Santa-Clara plant operations teams.
Not only is this new initiative another example of the DuPont commitment to environmental sustainability, this offering is a key business differentiator for DuPont Fluoroproducts in Mexico.
