Praxair, a producer, seller and distributor of atmospheric, process and specialty gases, and high-performance surface coatings, announced that it has opened a new cryogenic air separation plant in Gran Sabana, Colombia.
The plant will be located in the company’s new industrial complex, which will be the new Colombia headquarters of Praxair. The complex also includes a shared service center, a specialty gases production facility and a modern cylinder filling station.
The air separation facility has a production capacity of 200 tons of argon, nitrogen and oxygen per day. In addition, the facility will manufacture liquid argon, nitrogen and oxygen for the local market segments, including medical, food and beverage, chemicals, manufacturing and oil and gas. This is the company’s third air separation unit in Colombia. Praxair operates production facilities throughout Colombia, which assures reliable supply across the country.
Praxair's industrial complex will deliver gases to the Colombia plant of Gerdau, a manufacturer of long steel in the Americas and supplier of special steel across the world.
The President of Praxair South America, Domingos Bulus stated that the current project represents their commitment to the consistency of their services across the region. They will continue to focus on improving the productivity of their customers via operational excellence and the new complex in Colombia will further increase efficiency and agility in their operations.
