Bredero Shaw, pipecoating business of ShawCor, has secured more than US$40 million worth contracts to deliver pipeline coatings and associated services for the Petróleos Mexicanos-operated Linea 5 Pipeline Project in Mexico. The clients are Tubacero, Dragados Offshore and Swiber Offshore Construction. The coating work for the Linea 5 project will start in the Q3 of 2012.
The Linea 5 pipeline project will include offshore installation of about 77 km of 36" pipe between the Plataforma Enlace Litoral field to the Terminal Maritima de Dos Bocas located in the Bay of Campeche, Mexico. The pipeline will transport natural gas from the Litoral field to the Dos Bocas terminal for delivery to the PEMEX distribution network in Tabasco, Mexico.
The contract work includes delivery of heat shrinkable joint protection sleeves produced by Canusa-CPS division of ShawCor, and coating the pipeline with fusion bond epoxy (FBE) anticorrosive coating at Bredero Shaw Mexico's plant in Monterrey. Finally, Bredero Shaw Mexico division will perform concrete weight coating for the pipe by employing its Compression Coat Technology (CCT) facility in Coatzacoalcos, where the company will also complete the anode installation.
The CCT concrete coatings from Bredero Shaw are ideal for projects that require rapid mobilization or application of concrete coatings close to the right-of-way. These coatings are developed to offer mechanical protection and negative buoyancy for pipes in wet environments, submarine environments or rocky and rough terrain environments. As CCT employs a side-wrap application process, it is suitable for both large and small diameter pipelines.
