AMAG Orders Annealing Line for Aluminum Strip

AMAG rolling GmbH of Ranshofen, Austria, has placed an order with SMS Demag AG, Germany, for an annealing line for aluminum strip.

In this line, AMAG will manufacture annealed aluminum strip in continuous operation. The annealing line is designed for an annual production of 20,000 tons.

The aluminum strip is used in automotive and aeronautical industries.

The main process steps in the annealing line include strip preparation, tack-welding of strips, annealing, optional stretch-leveling, trimming, inspection, coating and banding.

The modular structure of the line, the integration of line sections into functional units and the systematic use of standard components and serial parts ensure quick installation of the line combined with a high ease of maintenance.

The annealing line is scheduled to be completed in the autumn of 2006.

SMS Demag AG forms part of the Metallurgical Plant and Rolling Mill Technology Business Area of the SMS group.
