Hybrid 651D, the latest addition to the hybrid resin product line of Cereplast, the company that designs and manufactures bioplastics, has been nominated for the MATERIALICA 2012 award.
The category of the nomination is ‘Material’. There are totally eight nominations in this category, selected from one hundred submissions. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be hosted on October 23, 2012 at the Munich Trade Fair Center as part of the MATERIALICA 2012, the 15th International Trade Fair for Materials Applications, Surface Technology and Product Engineering. The gold, silver and “best-of” awards will be revealed and presented during the awards ceremony.
MATERIALICA is considered to be Europe’s most important event for innovations in materials and supplier oriented products. The focus of this year’s trade fair is lightweight design as this novel field of the future is expected to set the trend in aerospace, electric vehicles, automotive, alternative energy, leisure and sports products.
Cereplast Hybrid 651D has the distinction of being the only bioplastics to be nominated for the MATERIALICA award. It also has the distinction of being the first EA and starch hybrid resin. Hybrid 651D is soft to touch, yet tough and pliable thereby making it suitable for soft injection molding and extrusion applications. The product offers the desirable characteristics of traditional EA with reduced carbon footprint. It also offers an extended range of properties for robust bioplastics materials, thereby extending application to packaging, footwear, tubes, cable and wire insulation and adhesion layers for films.
