The defense operations of privately held company, Gayston have been acquired by General Dynamics. Gayston supplies precision metal components that are employed in numerous munitions programs.
The defense operation at Gayston is housed at the company’s high-tech facility in Springboro, Ohio, which features enhanced aluminum impact extrusion manufacture. There are 187 employees engaged in the defense operations.
Gayston produces rocket motor tubes for the Hydra-70 air-to-ground rocket program of the United States army. Amongst other products, it also manufactures components required for mortar rounds of diameter in the range of 60 to 120 mm and liners and cartridges for ammunition rounds of 40 mm diameter.
General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products based in Charlotte, North Carolina will integrate the defense operations of Gayston with its operations. General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products is a manufacturer of weapon and armament systems of high performance, heavy-duty off-road axle and suspension systems and composite products. The United States military and allied forces are the company’s customers. The cash transactions resulting from the acquisition will be accreted to 2013 earnings.
Michael J. Mulligan, President of General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, commented on the acquisition saying that it will help in the expansion of their manufacturing capability and will give more opportunities for participation in weapon system programs.
