MRT Castings Expands Assembly Service Capacity

UK-based die casting specialist, MRT Castings has expanded its assembly operations in order to manage the increase in outsourcing of manufacturing operations from its clients.

The company provides integrated one source service ranging from CNC machining and finishing and casting of zinc and aluminum to final integration of end products.

In recent times, MRT has been accepting the implementation of challenging ready-to-deploy projects on behalf of its clients. As more and more clients outsource their assembling, packaging and transportation of products to MRT, electro-mechanical assembly has become a lucrative area of business.

According to Phil Rawnson, Managing Director of MRT Castings, the company is integrating backwards in the supply chain to perform design, manufacture and storage activities. With engineering design and manufacture out of their hands, clients will have adequate time to invest in design concepts and marketing. MRT handles large-scale projects like the production and assembly of designer luxury lighting used in hotels and residences. The casting, finishing and assembling of special pumps for shower wet rooms designed for the physically challenged is another example of the outsourced projects handled by MRT Castings.

The expansion of the assembly facility comes in the wake of procurement of a robot for extraction in MRT’s largest cell for pressure die casting. The aluminum die casting cell is now fully automated as the recently procured robotic extractor is a complement to the existing robotic ladle and die spray integrated with the Bühler 530-tonne casting cell. The Andover, Hampshire-based company reported a turnover of £4.3 million.
