Biomet Showcases New Stemless Shoulder at SECEC 2012

Biomet, a global provider of biotechnology and orthopaedic solutions, has showcased its new generation of stemless shoulder dubbed the Comprehensive Nano Shoulder at the 2012 Annual European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow (SECEC) Congress. The SECEC was held at Dubrovnik in Croatia from September 19 to 22, 2012.

The Comprehensive Nano shoulder has its premise in the clinical legacy of the stemless shoulder product called the Biomet T.E.S.S. The latter was introduced in Europe in 2004 and has achieved clinical success. As a result of the product’s special bone preserving design for shoulders, surgeons can replicate the local humeral head version and angle in order to fit each patient with the implant. The new generation Comprehensive Nano shoulder is well-matched with all versions of the Comprehensive shoulder system. It has the distinction of being the first Stemless product that offers intra-operative flexibility to surgeons that facilitates the transition to a reverse shoulder arthroplasty from a Comprehensive Nano hemi-arthroplasty without the need to remove the well attached humeral portion or the need to replace the core instruments.

The products developed by Biomet and its subsidiaries are currently distributing the products m in about 90 countries across the world. The company has its headquarters in Warsaw, Indiana. The primary market for Biomet and its subsidiaries is the musculoskeletal medical segment for both surgical and non-surgical treatments. Orthopedic joint replacement devices, sports medicine, internal and external orthopedic fixation devices, large joint reconstructive products, spine and bone healing products, dental reconstructive products, orthobiologics, electrical bone growth stimulators and microfixation products are some of the products in its vast portfolio.
