Trelleborg India Facility to Develop Industrial Antivibration Systems and Specialty Molded Components

Today, Trelleborg inaugurates two operations in India, co-located in one facility in Bengaluru. The facility will develop and produce industrial antivibration systems and specialty molded components for various industrial segments. Industrial antivibration systems are used for vibration damping in, for example, rail, off-highway equipment and other industrial segments. Specialty molded components, molded polymer materials, are found in a range of industrial applications and in such industries as telecommunications, energy and general industry.

Both operations are included in the Trelleborg Engineered Systems business area. The facilities form part of Trelleborg’s strategy to grow in selected, attractive and profitable markets and market segments. The operations will provide Trelleborg’s existing international customers with local support and deliveries for their facilities in India, and will also offer deliveries and support to local Indian manufacturers.

“We strongly believe in India’s long-term growth opportunities. This investment further strengthens our already strong global platform. As a result of structural changes in India in terms of the continued rise in population, industrial development and demand for such infrastructure as railways, roads, airports and ports, combined with sustainable development, the country comprises a growth market for Trelleborg,” says President and CEO, Peter Nilsson.

“There is promising demand for industrial antivibration products and solutions for the growing infrastructure sector in the country. We also envisage immense potential in general industries for our specialty molded components. The facility in Bengaluru will enable us to come closer to our international customers in the local market in India,” says President for Industrial Solutions in the Trelleborg Engineered Systems business area, Mikael Fryklund.

The inauguration on November 2 will be attended by guests from all over the world, including local and regional government officials, customers, as well as management and personnel from Trelleborg.

Trelleborg and TrelleborgVibracoustic, the joint venture in antivibration solutions for light and heavy vehicles, have manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, Noida and Chandigarh. These develop, manufacture and supply hydraulic and pneumatic sealing systems for fluid power, automotive and aerospace among others, and industrial antivibration systems to the rail sector, for example, and specialty molded components for various industrial segments. A center of excellence for engineering and design focusing on marine fenders and mooring systems is located in Ahmedabad. In addition, there are several regional sales and support offices to effectively cultivate the local market. Trelleborg has approximately 1,000 employees in India and sales in 2011 amounted to approximately SEK 490 M.
