Now, contractors sealing housewrap materials have a solvent-free housewrap tape option that holds strong and lasts strip after strip to prevent air and moisture infiltration. Shurtape®, with its commitment to exacting standards, introduces new HW 300 housewrap tape, a water-based closure tape for housewrap materials used in residential and commercial construction applications.
HW 300 features a first-to-market water-based (emulsion) acrylic, cold temperature adhesive that provides a permanent hold and has a less astringent smell than that of many solvent-based housewrap tapes. It is ideal for sealing seams and joints on all types of housewrap/sheathing, insulation or vapor barrier materials to prevent air infiltration, and can also be handy in HVAC applications in tight spaces such as crawl spaces. The tape is durable and strong enough to be used to hold housewrap materials instead of staples or nails to maintain the integrity of the material or can be applied over staples and nails to repair and cover puncture holes.
HW 300 is UV-resistant, is tested in accordance with UL 723 (UL 723 rating with a Flame Spread Index of 0 and a Smoke Developed Index of 0) and can be applied in vast temperature ranges (14 F to 176 F/-10 C to 80 C) as well as in humid conditions.
HW 300 is CCMC-Certified (#13401-R), meaning it has been evaluated by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC), which offers a national evaluation service for all types of innovative building construction materials, products, systems and services. As a Shurtape Green Point Contributor Product, HW 300 also contributes to LEED®* certification points when combined with other eligible building materials.
