Outokumpu supplies cable management specialist Vantrunk stainless steel for cable ladders and cable trays that support cable in the Gorgon LNG project, the largest construction project ever undertaken in Australia and one of the largest worldwide.
Vantrunk delivers cable management solutions including cable ladders and cable trays for energy, oil & gas and industrial processing worldwide and is one of the global leaders in cable management. Recently, Vantrunk has supplied more than 100 kilometers of stainless steel cable ladder and 300 kilometers of stainless steel cable tray for Gorgon. Cable ladder and cable tray systems are rigid structural systems that are used to securely support cables.
In the Gorgon project, gas fields are built some 130 kilometers off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The resource contains 40 trillion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas.
The Vantrunk cable ladder and tray systems are manufactured with marine-grade stainless steel whenever extreme strength and very high corrosion resistance are required. The material ensures up to 20-year service life in a temperature range from -50 to +450 degrees Celsius.
To match the demanding conditions, Outokumpu supplies Vantrunk austenitic stainless steel coil from Tornio, Finland, which is slit and cut to length at the Outokumpu service center in Sheffield, England. Sheets and blanks are delivered to Vantrunk on just-in-time basis to serve Vantrunk’s production schedule.
Vantrunk Managing Director Kevin Campbell comments on the Vantrunk-Outokumpu partnership: “At Vantrunk, we are committed to delivering the highest-quality cable management solutions designed to thrive in extreme environments. We have developed a strong and reliable supply chain. Outokumpu plays a key role in helping us to deliver on our customer promise.”
