Huntsman To Expand Ethylene Carbonate Capacity

Huntsman Corporation has announced that it will increase its ethylene carbonate manufacturing capacity by 30 percent, bringing total capacity at its Conroe, Texas production facility to 32 million pounds per year.

Huntsman, a leading manufacturer and marketer of ethylene carbonate, has begun the engineering for the project and expects to have the new capacity on line by the first quarter of 2006.

“Growing customer demand, due to rapidly growing markets which include requirements for safe and environmentally friendly solvents, is providing the impetus for the expansion,” said Huntsman Vice President, Stu Monteith. “Expanding our production of ethylene carbonate derivatives is in keeping with our corporate strategy to selectively invest in our differentiated businesses.”

Huntsman is a global manufacturer and marketer of commodity and differentiated chemicals. Its operating companies manufacture basic products for a variety of global industries including chemicals, plastics, automotive, aviation, footwear, paints and coatings, construction, technology, agriculture, health care, textiles, detergent, personal care, furniture, appliances and packaging.
