The event, “Introduction to Composite Materials and their Processing” coincides with the Advanced Engineering Show at Birmingham’s NEC on 12 November 2013.
This new event is designed to introduce companies to fibre-reinforced-polymer composites (FRPs), how they work and what the materials could do for their businesses. NetComposites is an applied research and development company who also already supplies comprehensive composites training within their sector and see the Advanced Engineering Show as an excellent place to introduce new industries to the materials.
Claire Whysall, Event and Network Manager, said, “In addition to Composites Engineering, the Advanced Engineering Show encompasses four other shows – Aero Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Auto Electronics, and the Printable Electronics Show. FRPs could be used widely in all of these sectors and our aim is to raise awareness of the materials.
“This event would also benefit new engineers in the composites industry who may not have worked with the materials before.
“Holding this event alongside the Advanced Engineering Show means that delegates can learn the theoretical side with us, then see it being put into practice by walking the show.”
The event will be split into two, half-day events, where delegates can either attend one, or both of the sessions.
Session one will cover an introduction to composite materials, beginning with an overview and moving on to cover how composite materials are formed, a market overview, information on design and analysis with some case studies to round off the morning, showing where composites can be used.
Session two, will cover composite materials processing; an overview of these techniques, choosing the right process, resin considerations and choices, thermoplastic composites and inspection and repair.
Both of these sessions will be led by top industry expert James Quinn of James Quinn Associates, interjected with case studies from composite sector specialists.
Places are limited so early booking is advisable through the event website – www.compositesengineeringconference.com.
The Advanced Engineering Show takes place on 12 and 13 November in Hall 5 of Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.
