Lindamar Nature's Reward Compostable Bags Receive 100% Biodegradability Certification

Nature's Reward®, a new line of compostable bags manufactured and marketed by Lindamar Industries, Inc., an ISO 9001-2008 certified, California-based plastic packaging manufacturer, recently received the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) ASTM-D6400 certification, proving 100% biodegradability.

BPI, the national authority on approved biodegradable products in organics diversion programs, tests compostable products in approved, independent labs to verify that they meet certain standards developed by leading scientists, resin producers and the composting industry. These standards—American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D6400 and D6868—"scientifically prove a material will biodegrade, leaving no persistent synthetic residues," according to the association.

BPI granted Nature's Reward® ASTM-D6400 certification for its compostable products, which includes trash bags, lawn and leaf bags, toddler potty chair liners and shopping/merchandise bags. The line is made from PSM Bioplastics raw material and is designed for the collection and disposal of waste products in composts and composting facilities.

"Earning the BPI certification is like passing the gold standard for us," said President and CEO of Lindamar Industries, Inc., Anthony Hall. "We are thrilled to be able to guarantee unequivocally that our clients receive tested, reliable compostable products and to help the environment by providing bags that will biodegrade completely, quickly and safely—just as kraft paper, yard trimmings and food scraps would."

In addition to being BPI-certified, Nature's Reward's USA-manufactured compostable bags have also earned the "OK Compost" certification and comply with the requirements of the EU Packaging Directive (94/62/EEC).

Nature's Reward's® BPI certification is yet another example of Lindamar Industries' company-wide sustainability commitment, which also includes reducing waste at all levels of production, implementing recycling policies at their facility and offering post-consumerable plastic packaging products. Additionally, Lindamar was the proud sponsor of the 2013 California Coastal Commission Cleanup Day in San Francisco, to which the company donated several thousand Nature's Reward® compostable bags made from PSM Bioplastics to be used for the cleanup.

Lindamar Industries provides quality bags in a variety of styles and types for vendors and consumers of agricultural, bakery, meat, medical, and industrial products.
