Copperweld Purchases Certain Assets of the CommScope BiMetals Business

Copperweld Bimetallics LLC, a leading global manufacturer and innovator of copper-clad bimetallic wire used in a variety of telecommunication, utility, transportation and other electrical applications, has purchased certain assets of the CommScope BiMetals® business of Hickory, NC-based CommScope Holding Company, Inc.

The transaction involves the purchase of equipment associated with the manufacture of all copper-clad aluminum and copper-clad steel products. CommScope will retain the processing equipment needed for the production of its GroundSmart® grounding solutions. CommScope will continue to manufacture and sell GroundSmart for use in grounding utility and communications networks.

A long-term supply arrangement between the two companies was also agreed upon, with Copperweld providing bimetallic wire to CommScope as needed for the manufacture of cables and other products.

The agreement between the two companies coincides with a renewed focus on providing superior customer service at Copperweld. "We are constantly striving to improve internal processes to make supply chain management as easy as possible for our customers," said Copperweld CEO Joe Longever. "In today's world, no one has time to wait. We strive to respond to the urgencies of the marketplace and lead the industry in serving the companies that depend on us. We are very happy to count CommScope among our customers once again going forward."

The economic terms of the deal were not disclosed.
