XMC, a fast growing specialty foundry, today announced that it has received the ISO/TS16949 certificate, a critical qualification for supplying components to the automotive industry worldwide.
The certification was awarded following a rigorous qualification process to ensure compliance with all of the standard's processes and quality criteria. It follows several other important ISO certificates that XMC has earned for safe, reliable and quality-driven operations.
The primary aim of the ISO/ TS16949 specification, which is endorsed by the leading worldwide automotive manufacturers and suppliers, is the development of a quality management system that provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. It applies to design, development, and production of automotive-related parts throughout the supply chain.
"We are pleased that an important supplier to Spansion has achieved this global certification standard. It will strengthen our ability to serve the worldwide automotive market, which is an important sector for us and one driven by stringent requirements for quality and reliability across all aspects of the supply chain," said Joe Rauschmayer, senior vice president of Wafer Fabrication Operations, Corporate Quality and Product Engineering at Spansion.
"XMC invests a large amount of time, effort and resources into quality-focused processes. This certification is a reflection of that commitment. It underscores our goal of being a world-class supplier to multiple industries, and ensuring high reliability, customer-driven technology and processes that enable the success of our partners and their customers," said Dr. Qiang Guo, the vice president of Quality and Reliability at XMC.
