CE Week Launches Inaugural 3D Printing Make-Off

CE Week announced today the launch of the inaugural 3D Printing Make-Off, scheduled for June 25-26, during CE Week 2014, the consumer electronics (CE) industry’s annual mid-year event in New York City.

CE Week brings together top media, analysts and technology thought leaders for product debuts, a robust conference program and networking events all focused on innovative trends in consumer technology. Taking place citywide, CE Week 2014 is scheduled June 23-27 in New York City, with the CE Week Exhibits and Conference Program scheduled June 25-26 at the Metropolitan Pavilion/Altman Building.

The inaugural 3D Printing Make-Off will bring together designers and innovators for two days to print their most exciting creations before a live audience of media, analysts, retailers and distributors. Finalists will take the stage during the 3D@Home Panel, which will be streamed live on CEWeek TV, Dealerscope.com, the technologytell.com network and syndicated worldwide.

“3D printing has been a game-changer for the entire technology industry and we’re thrilled to host the latest designers, technologists and creators as part of the inaugural 3D Printing Make-Off at CE Week,” said Martin Porter, executive producer, CE Week. “These innovators will have the opportunity to showcase their designs before some of the world’s top media and technology thought leaders at CE Week 2014.”

The 3D printing market generated industry buzz nearly five years ago at CE Week 2009 when MakerBot, then a small 3D printing start-up, made its debut from the CE Week exhibit floor. The company has since catapulted to success and was sold last summer to Stratasys International in a stock deal worth $400 million.

The design challenge for the CE Week 3D Printing Make-Off will be announced 30 days prior to the show, with the winner announced during the 3D@Home Panel on June 26.
