Rubicon Technology, Inc., a leading provider of sapphire substrates and products to the LED, semiconductor, and optical industries, today announced that the company will showcase its line of high quality optical products for use in defense and aerospace, instrumentation and analytical processing, sensors and detectors, semiconductor process equipment, and medical and laser applications at the SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing 2014 exhibition from May 6 to 9 at the Baltimore Convention Center in booth #1032.
Sapphire is a desirable material for high-performance applications due to its optical transparency, physical strength, resistance to abrasion and corrosion, temperature durability, chemical inertness, and bio-compatibility. As a result, it is ideally suited for extreme environments such as military and industrial applications where material durability is just as important as optical clarity.
Rubicon has recently demonstrated the superior quality of its sapphire as measured by x-ray rocking curve, etch-pit density and x-ray topography. The results will be presented in a paper by Rubicon’s John P. Ciraldo and co-authors, Improvements to Quality of Mass Produced Sapphire, at a poster session, Paper 9100-25, at 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM on Thursday, May 8th in Convention Center, Hall C. The paper can be found at http://rubicontechnology.com/resources/papers.
Rubicon will have a number of optical sapphire products of different sizes and crystal orientations on display at SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing 2014 along with a wide range of sapphire products including sapphire cores, ingots, windows, domes and blanks. Rubicon will also be displaying large diameter wafers ranging in size from 4 to 6 and 8 inches.
