Flash Memory Summit 2014: AgigA Tech to Highlight Nonvolatile DIMM Technology

AgigA Tech Inc., a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. and a leading provider of high-speed, high-density, battery-free non-volatile memory solutions, will demonstrate its Nonvolatile DIMM (NVDIMM) technology in server and storage platforms at the Flash Memory Summit August 4-7, 2014.

The active demonstration will have multiple NVDIMMs, including AgigA Tech's flagship AGIGARAM® solution, running to show memory persistence, performance and other key features of the technology. The demo will take place in conjunction with the recently formed NVDIMM Special Interest Group (SIG) in the Storage Network Industry Association's (SNIA) booth number 808 here at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Pictured is AgigA Tech's AGIGARAM, a new class of non-volatile memory developed to meet the need for higher-performance persistent memory for enterprise-class storage and server applications.

Additionally, AgigA Tech will also be participating in several sessions during the show:

  • A SNIA-sponsored Hands-On Lab titled "Non-Volatile DIMMs: When Flash Isn't Fast Enough," where AgigA technical staff, along with other member companies, will be providing technical information and demonstrations on NVDIMM technology. The lab will be held four times across Tuesday, August 5 and Wednesday, August 6.
  • Jeff Chang, AgigA Tech's Vice President of Marketing and Business Development and co-chair of the NVDIMM SIG, will participate in two presentations at the Flash Memory Summit:
    • A panel discussion (Session 202-A) entitled "Flash on the Memory Bus," which will take place on Wednesday, August 6 from 9:45 to 10:50 a.m.
    • A presentation of a joint paper (Session 303-B) with McObject entitled "Benchmark: In-Memory Database System Deployed on NVDIMM," which will take place on Thursday, August 7 from 2:40 to 3:55 p.m.

About AGIGARAM
AGIGARAM is a new class of non-volatile memory developed to meet the need for higher-performance persistent memory for enterprise-class storage and server applications. By combining industry-standard DRAM and NAND Flash technology, AGIGARAM provides the low latency and nearly infinite endurance of DRAM, along with the non-volatility of Flash. During normal operation, AGIGARAM appears to the host system as a standard JEDEC DRAM memory module. In the event of an unexpected power loss, the critical data residing in the DRAM is saved to onboard NAND Flash using a battery-free power source based on ultracapacitors. When power is returned, the in-memory state of the DRAM at the time power was lost is restored from the Flash. The recovery time from a catastrophic power-loss event is almost immediate since the restore operation takes a matter of seconds and recharging the ultracapacitors takes only minutes. AGIGARAM is designed to integrate easily into the DIMM slots of industry-standard server and storage platforms, providing the fastest possible persistent memory for use cases such as write caching, metadata storage and other in-memory computing applications.
