For the past two decades, Water Pik, a pioneering company in replacement shower heads, has applied 3D printer technology to accelerate the design process and print advanced products delivering high performance. 3D printing provides Water Pik engineers with the capability of refining and designing high-quality shower heads.
Prototyping with 3D printing is up to 10x quicker when compared to conventional prototyping. As a result, engineers have time to fine tune designs to satisfy the rigorous performance requirements set by the company for its shower heads and fulfill consumer needs.
Water Pik designers are also able to test and develop innovative products, thanks to 3D printing technology. Some of the sophisticated product designs created using 3D printing include the EasySelect spray selector technology and the new Waterpik SprayShaper shower head.
3D Printing for Product Design - 15 Second Video
The prototyping process employed at Water Pik is shown in the video in order to understand the 3D printer technology practiced at the company better. The video also shows the rigorous testing process of shower heads to satisfy the company’s stringent OptiFLOW technology performance standards.
According to Water Pik’s Vice President of New Products and Engineering, Ken Hair, the company’s proven track record and leadership in the replacement shower head market could not be possible without 3D printing which has enabled the company to constantly create product innovations over the past 20 years.
Waterpik shower heads are based on the company’s OptiFLOW technology. The full video can be accessed at www.waterpik.com.
