Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has invited colleges and universities to use its online learning program aimed at teaching engineers the basics of sealing.
Educational institutes are being urge to take advantage of the company’s commitment to “sharing its knowledge” to help develop “engineers of the future”.
One of the leading global players in the supply of seals and bearings to the offshore oil and gas market, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has developed a series of lessons in the basics of sealing technology. The two latest additions are on rotary seals, joining the already renowned modules on O-Rings, hydraulic seals and installation of seals.
Designed for self-tuition by e-learning, the online lessons are all fully-voiced in English and feature animations as well as quizzes to make learning more interactive. The modules are ideal for design engineers, equipment manufacturers, purchasers and maintenance people, as well as being a useful resource for students.
David Brown, Managing Director for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in the UK, said: “This e-learning platform is part of a suite of tools and apps that we offer online.
“We have built up more than 60 years of experience and expertise in sealing design and technology and in order to help develop the engineers of the future we have made a commitment to share this knowledge through our e-learning resource.”
There are 14 e-learning lessons in total, three on O-Rings, the most common of sealing elements, four on hydraulic seals, five on installing seals and two on rotary seals.
Available on www.tss.trelleborg.com, the lessons teach anyone involved in specifying, purchasing or installing seals about sealing materials, standards, the criteria for specifying seals and sealing options.
