Generative Parametrics Launches UK Research and Innovation Partnership

Advanced design engineering company, Generative Parametrics, is celebrating its tenth anniversary by launching a new partnership with the University of Bath. The Wiltshire-based company and university will collaborate on software development, enabling the company to branch into innovative new areas.

Alex Groffman (Founder of Generative Parametrics)

The project is a ‘Knowledge Transfer Partnership’, supported by UK Research and Innovation as part of the government’s industrial strategy. “I’m excited to see what we’ll achieve together,” said Alex Groffman, founder of Generative Parametrics. “University of Bath is renowned internationally for its engineering expertise, rigorous research and ground-breaking ideas.”

To mark the occasion, the company is also launching a video series, available at www.generativeparametrics.com. In each, Alex provides insights on design engineering, manufacturing technologies and industry developments. “Working with many different sectors gives us a unique perspective on important industry topics, such as additive manufacturing,” he said. “We’re keen to share these insights with our customers.”

Since launching, Generative Parametrics has grown into a team of advanced design specialists for global sectors including automotive, oil and gas, and telecommunications. Alex and the team also worked with artist, Giles Rayner, on design engineering the Arches of Oman: a 12-metre high water sculpture in the country’s capital, Muscat.

Generative Parametrics has carved its niche through unique automated ‘DNA Modelling’ methodologies. DNA Modelling enables designers to create and update limitless variations of designs – instantly, accurately and in harmony with geometric rules. This delivers faster turnarounds, lower fixed costs and superior products for customers.

Before launching Generative Parametrics, Alex worked for various high-end automotive companies, including manufacturers and suppliers. His pioneering methodologies streamlined product development and won major contracts with luxury car brands.

“It’s a privilege to work with the great team at Generative Parametrics,” said Alex. “I’m really looking forward to exploring new opportunities in design and manufacturing.”
